Indian fighter jets carried out strike over Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camps in Balakot, POK with claims by BJP President Amit Shah and others dropping statements with varying numbers ranging from 240 to 300 to 400 terrorists, trainers, and jihadis being killed, while driving Election 2019 rally speeches, just put across the point that see we have carried successful revenge and that we will continue doing the same. While the Indian foreign secretary and Defence Chief confirmed the news of IAF attacks, days after 40 CRPF Jawans were killed by the terrorist group in a suicide attack in Pulwama however each of them avoided giving any numbers, categorically stating that its not our job to count the bodies; infact, the Defence Chief in its very restrained statement had stated on the day of the release of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, that it is not sensible to talk on the subject beyond the essentials and facts that there was an attack on India Forces and IAF had in turn attacked the respective Jihadi group camps running in POK.
However, with Election 2019 fervour and sentiments running high in the country and across party lines, and much thanks to the so called and alleged paid breaking news TV channels and their anchors and the self appointed custodians of Indian history, its governance and democracy on social media platform, who systematically engineered the debate on number of terrorists being killed by the Indian Armed forces, post the opposition parties and few others questioning the logic of varied numbers being thrown by the likes of Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and few others of the BJP at various rallies and the highly sensitive defence issues being politicised by the honourable PM Modi in his speeches by way of mentioning the attacks - 'as never before' kind of an act which only and only the current BJP under the leadership of Modi can do - arousing the emotions into the people coupled with twisted and highly aggressive charges by electronic media debates, in all common sense cannot be watched and taken lying down by the opposition, resulting in an unending gossip and diverting the attention from the fundamentals and crying problems which Indian are facing other than terrorism from across border.
The news is trending across social media platforms with people as usual taking sides again on engineered posts and tweets, which in all sensibility will do more harm than benefit to the country in the long run. India has (and will) responded by way surgical strikes always be it the past or present (or if we say the future) however this way of marketing and making it an instrument of PR drive by the ruling regime is a never experienced episode in the last 71 years of India's independence, if one were to say in the PM Modi's style.
With Prime Minister and his core BJP team, is making sure to keep the news of IAF attacks as a key messaging point across it rallies, it's laughable that on the other hand they keep appealing to the opposition to avoid policising the subject. After the air strikes were confirmed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not miss a single messaging platform, be it Rajasthan,Gujarat or Uttar Pradesh and in his usual flamboyant over the top style he ensured emphaiszing that the country is in safe hands and in that no one is or will be able to match his aggression and swiftness in taking on Pakistan and the terrorist, completely side lining the grim situation on the borders with consistent loss of our Jawans due to escalation of attacks and firing from across the borders not only post Pulwama but if the stats are to be believed, which nowadays are being either brushed under the carpet or twisted again, the casualties and attacks of risen in the last 5 years.
Insinuating speeches and statements are being engineered, left- right and center, however no one has the time to champion the question: at what costs ? Unfortunately, everything is very cleverly engineered and twisted into a direction where it may end up into a dog fight be it the TV Screens or Facebook Posts or Twitter Tweets.
