Surrogacy is slowly becoming a new trend in B-Town with a number of celebrities opting for it. The badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan had welcomed his third child, a boy- Abram via surrogacy a few years back, and celebrated director Karan Johar had also welcomed twins- a boy and a girl via surrogacy. Amir Khan and Kiran Rao had also opted for surrogacy and welcomed their baby boy Azad a few years ago, likewise.
Recently, television and film producer Ekta Kapoor welcomed her first baby- a boy via surrogacy on January 27, 2019. Before this, her younger brother and actor Tusshar Kapoor had also become a father to an adorable baby boy named Laksshya, via surrogacy.
The trend of surrogacy seems to be catching in the Bollywood industry with many celebrities opting for children via surrogacy. Ekta stated that she shares a close bond with Tusshar as well as Laksshya. The outspoken producer has stated several times that she doesn’t want to get married and stated that she wanted to be a mother after Laksshya was born. She states that she would opt for motherhood as well as the responsibility, that comes with it.
Tusshar Kapoor had also shared earlier that he doesn't want wait for marriage, to start a family and felt that the time may run out, if he waits for marriage to have a family. He stated that he believes he could marry anytime later in his life, but he wished to start a family now.
With a number of people opting to stay unmarried till they find the right person, they are opting for surrogacy as a way to becoming parents. With bollywood celebrities opting for it, the taboo around surrogacy seems to be a thing of the past and people, increasingly choosing to become parents by surrogacy.
The super busy Ekta Kapoor had produced two Bollywood films last year which were Veere Di Wedding and Laila Majnu and in 2019 she has a number of production ventures lined up for release. Her upcoming projects include Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao's Mental Hai Kya, Bhumi Pednekar and Konkona Sen Sharma's Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra's Jabariya Jodi, and Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha's Dream Girl. The queen of television shows, Ekta has always been a go-getter and while she has good wishes and congratulations pouring from across, wishing her too all the very best a=as she begins her journey as a mother!
