Indian fighter jets carried out strike over Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camps in Balakot, POK killing over 300 terrorists, trainers, and jihadis. Indian foreign secretary has confirmed the news, which comes days after 40 CRPF Troopers were killed by the terrorist group in a suicide attack in Pulwama.
Around 3.30 am, 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets dropped 1,000 kg bombs on a vast terror training facility at Balakot, that was the hub of suicide attack training.
The foreign minister stated that the move was absolutely necessary as the terrorist group was planning more suicide attacks in India. The terrorist group JeM claimed responsibility for the February 14 Pulwama attack on a CRPF convoy. The facility at Balakot is located in a thick forest on a hilltop far away from civilian presence and was headed by Maulana Yousuf Azhar, the brother-in-law of JeM chief Masood Azhar.
Yousuf Azhar was among the terrorists involved in the 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight IC-814, where passengers flying from Kathmandu to Delhi were held hostage at Kandahar and were swapped for Masood Azhar, who was then in the custody of the Indian government.
The minister added that the government is committed to taking all measures to fight the menace of terrorism. He stated that they expect to dismantle all Jihadi and terrorist camps including the JeM.
The news is trending across platforms with most of the people coming forward and supporting the move! India has responded to such an attack after entailing innumerable terrorist attacks, consistently over the last two to three decades and in the last four to five years witnessing escalated attacks on Indian armed forces. The step taken in the fight against terrorism, is being touted as a major change in the Indian defence strategy, however it will be important to put facts straight, that is India Government and India Armed Forces, have always taken steps with the only difference that in the past so much of media glare was neither the norm nor strategically considered rightful .
The media and social platforms are buzzing with people supporting the move against terrorism. After the air strikes were confirmed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in a rally in Rajasthan, that the country is in safe hands and in his style did not miss in messaging in his public addresses all through the day, discreetly or indiscreetly as one may wish to define.
The emotions are running pretty high, thanks to breaking news anchors of TV channels and self appointed custodians of Indian history , its governance and democracy on social media platform!!
