The struggle for acceptance of ‘Transgenders’ in the mainstream is still a far cry, across countries including India; and what better medium than the medium of entertainment –movies, which influences and connects one and all, especially the YOUTH, to sensitize and bring forth the subject into mainstream gossip; they are also human beings, as good or bad as anyone of us!

Its 21st century, and its high time that with all the development and modernity, touch basing mankind, we also become modern enough in subjects of socio economic consequences such as equal rights to transgenders as ‘third gender’. Though, ‘transgender’ has been the subject of many movies, however, it will not be incorrect to say that ‘Admitted’ probably will be the first of its kind biographical documentary drama by Ojaswwee Sharma- the Producer, Director and Scriptwriter of this full length feature film. The movie will be travelling to national and international film festivals before it goes mainstream, says its Producer and Director Ojaswwee Sharma.

No professional actors or to say “star-cast’’ in the movie, makes it more striking and unique in its approach. The movie based on Dhananjay Chauhan Mangalmukhi, is having the person himself carry the movie on ones own shoulders in ‘reel’ too, as the main protagonist. Interestingly, all the other ‘real’ characters who have played significant role in the journey of  Dhananjay Chauhan Mangalmukhi of close to five decades, will be seen donning their roles in the ‘reel’ as well.

The main inspiration behind the making of the movie ‘Admitted’ is to sensitize on the glaring subject of acceptance of third gender into the mainstream and Dhananjay Chauhan Mangalmukhi a role model, who took ground with education to fight the battle and move from the shadows of humiliation, frustration, everyday struggles of survival into an identity of respect and acceptance. In the words of Dhananjay Chauhan Mangalmukhi, the experience and journey has been overwhelming and an emotional one; and the journey continues…..

We hope that the movie #Admitted inspires millions and becomes a reason for some hatke worthy gossip for positive change in the ‘society’ at large. Wishing many more applauds and recognition to  ‘'Admitted'' , Ojaswwee Sharma and Dhananjay Chauhan Mangalmukhi, and may they continue to inspire with their work.
